33" (84 cm.) Paper mache shoulder head,rounded facial shape,deeply-sculpted short black curly hair with tumbling curl onto the forehead,black enamel inset eyes,short feathered brows,rounded nose with accented nostrils,closed mouth with shaded and accented lips,muslin stitch-jointed body with leather arms,wearing early costume,green kidskin shoes. Condition: very good,some fading of complexion,some patching on arms. Marks: Ex. 1 From Woodford's Fancy Store 309 Washington Street,Boston (body stamp). Comments: circa 1855,the doll was presented from the luxury Boston store of Orin Woodford,1840-1855. Value Points: luxury model as determined by grand size,superbly-sculpted hair,enamel eyes,original stamped body,original (somewhat frail) early costume.
