16" (41 cm.) Bisque socket head with high-domed forehead and very plump cheeks,pale blue glass sleep eyes with spiral threading,painted lashes,lightly-fringed brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,open mouth with slightly-down-turned lip corners,four porcelain teeth,brunette mohair wig,composition and wooden early eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists,nicely costumed in the antique style. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: WSK 2. Comments: Wiesenthal,Schindel,and Kallenberg of Walterhausen,circa 1890,the firm exhibited their dolls at the Chicago World's Fair of 1893,promoting their special beauty and quality. Value Points: few early models of dolls are known to exist from this firm,this example with especially lovely complexion enhanced by rose blushed eyelids,cheeks and chin,original early body and body finish.
