Description
3" (8 cm.) l. satchel. A gabardine satchel with
button closure and carrying strap contains within
a pair of warm dry army socks,two handkerchiefs,a
ham-bone,pipe,comb,and stationery,along with a
poem "Ma Musette",describing the importance of his
satchel to the weary soldier. According to the
poem he carries within the satchel his "lettres
d'amour,sardines,saucisson" (love letters,sardines
and sausages). French,WWI era,the miniature
replica of the soldier's back pack of supplies was
presented as an accessory for small dolls during
