Description
22" (56 cm.) Solid domed bisque head with flat-cut
neck socket,two stringing holes at the top of the
head,pale complexion,almond-shaped grey glass
inset eyes,dark eyeliner,painted lashes and
lightly-feathered brows,accented nostrils,closed
mouth with defined space between the outlined
lips,ears pierced into her head,blonde mohair
wig,original composition and wooden
eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight
wrists,protruding-dowel at upper torso that
attaches to unique head neck,flat-cut
derriere,newer silk costume included. Condition:
generally excellent. Marks: (diamond enclosing an
eight-point star which encloses an illegible
symbol) Trade-Mark Schutz-Mark (marks on bottom of
derriere). Comments: Germany,very early example of
ball-jointed doll,circa 1880,a smaller version of
this doll is shown in Cieslik's German Doll
Encyclopedia,page 53. Value Points: very rare doll
with beautiful expression and bisque,original and
very rare body with maker's mark. Few examples of
this doll are known to exist,and virtually never
with the maker's mark.
