Description
3 " (9 cm.) square,the largest. Each has gilded metal or ormolu frame with richly embossed or beaded ornamentation,and hinged lid that opens to reveal a tufted red or blue silk cushion. The largest has beveled glass sides,another has gilded metal sides,and the third has glass sides with faux-marble finish. The beveled glass lid of each box encloses a tinted scene of Paris,two of Tour Eiffel at its time of construction,and the third being an early color engraving with heightened varnish at the windows. Two square boxes are excellent,triangular has some wear. French,mid/late 19th century.
