18" (46 cm.) Pale bisque swivel head with flat-cut
neck socket on bisque shoulder plate with
swivel-locking construction allowing the head to
pivot only in a realistic 90 degrees,brilliant
cobalt blue enamel inset eyes in narrow eye
sockets,dark eyeliner,painted lashes,feathered
arched brows,accented nostrils and eye
corners,closed mouth with outlined lips,un-pierced
ears,blonde wig over original kid cap and cork
pate,stretched-kid-over-wood fashion body with
shapely torso,dowel-jointed shoulders,elbows,hips
and knees,bisque forearms with sculpted
fingers,elongated thighs. Condition: generally
excellent. Marks: F 4 G (block letters on front
rim of shoulder plate) Au Paradis des
Enfants,Perreau Fils 156 Rue Rivoli,1 Rue du
Louvre (stamp on torso). Comments: the poupee was
commissioned from Gaultier by the prestigious
Parisian toy store,Au Paradis des Enfants,circa
1867; the store presented only the most luxurious
dolls and playthings to its society clientele.
