Description
2 1/2" (6 cm.) In the form of a gold-plated pocket
watch, the automaton has an animated country scene
of woman and man on horseback at the glass-covered
front, and an engraved musical motif on the
gold-plated rear lid. The easily visible automaton
movements concern the lady pumping well water for
the horse, the horse drinking, and the man trying to
capture a falcon. The hidden "surprise" of the
watch is on the backside; when the lid is
opened,it reveals an erotic scene. The movement
has a lever escapement,17 jewels,a one-tune
17-note musical movement,and a Breguet-style
ratchet winding key in the shape of a lyre.
Excellent condition. Reuge,Switzerland,circa 1990.
