Description
14" (36 cm.) All-wooden doll has socket head with
bald pate,carved and painted facial features,dark
eyes in defined eye sockets,arched brows,closed
mouth with accented lips,sculpted ears,wooden body
with uniquely-designed stringing system that is
hidden beneath the removable torso
front,ball-jointed limbs. Condition: generally
excellent. Comments: Japan,circa 1900,the
sculpting is similar to the Door of Hope dolls.
Value Points: very rare and intriguing doll,with
wonderful original costume comprising patterned
cotton pants and shirt,silk jacket and pants with
intricate embroidery details,cotton stockings with
stitched soles,and red silk slippers with embroidery
