11" (28 cm.) Carved socket head with sculpted black hair in simple coiffure,captured in a tight
chignon at the back of her head,sculpted eye sockets and lips,tinted brows,pupils,and
lips,smiling expression,cloth body,wooden hands. Condition: generally excellent. Comments:
Chinese Door of Hope mission,circa 1920,depicted is the Amah (nanny) and her 5" young
charge,also with carved wooden head and painted features. Value Points: each wear their original
traditional costumes,hand-sewn at the Mission,the child with a delightful cap,still tied with
original strings to the Amah.
