Description
7" (18 cm.) Carved wooden egg-shaped head with elongated throat,painted facial features and
black pate,posed upon a painted tin base with attached very elaborate costume of tiny painted
shells,to simulate a gown,apron,and large rounded bonnet. Condition: reglue on right arm,some
typical chipping of shells. Comments: early 19th century. Value Points: very imaginative use of
shells to construct intricate gown and accessories,the bonnet of particularly amusing
construction.
