24" (61 cm.) Pink-tinted bisque shoulder head with deeply sculpted brown curly hair having topknot and forelock curl, painted blue side-glancing intaglio eyes with prominent black pupils and white eye dots, black upper eyeliner, feathered brows, rounded tiny nose with accented nostrils, closed mouth with downcast expression, muslin torso, composition arms and legs in bent baby pose, wonderful antique romper suit. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Heubach (square) 8644 Germany. Comments: Gebruder Heubach, circa 1910, the doll bears a remarkable similarity to Baby Grumpy created by Effanbee several years later. Value Points: the rare grand-sized model has exceptional quality of deeply sculpted hair including forelock curl, wonderfully-rendered facial expression, including well-defined furrows on forehead, and around the eyes and lips.
