14" (36 cm.) Bisque socket head of slender-faced older child,sculpted brown hair in short
tousled curls captured by a sculpted aqua-blue hair ribbon with large bow at the
crown,sculpted heavy eyelids to appear as though downcast eyes,intaglio dark blue eyes,one-
stroke brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth with outlined lips,Sonneberg
composition and wooden fully-jointed body,wearing factory muslin chemise with lace and
ribbon detail. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: Heubach (square) 7865 (?) Germany.
Comments: Gebruder Heubach,1913,under special commission for Emil Bauersachs; the doll
was marketed as Jubilee Doll,created as a celebration model for the 100th anniversary of
Germany's liberation from French Napoleon occupation; the story is told in German Doll
Studies by Cieslik,page 248. Value Points: an artistic portrayal of modest older child with very
rare sculpting of downcast eyes,wonderful detail of hair and bow,finest bisque and painting;
the doll was designed to depict a child of the 1813 era,and is one of the rarest Heubach
models created.
