Description
24" (60 cm.) Bisque socket head depicting an older child,painted azure-blue eyes in well-
defined eye sockets,heavily modeled eyelids,thick black upper eyeliner,one stroke tapered
brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth with very full expressive lips,light brown hand-tied
human hair wig arranged in braided coronet,composition and wooden ball-jointed body.
Condition: generally excellent,some typical wig pulls at the back of her head. Marks: K*R 109
60. Comments: Kammer and Reinhardt,the model "Elise" from their art character reform
series,circa 1910. Value Points: the largest size known of this model; the size as well as the
superb sculpting and painting especially around the mouth,with impressed cheek and chin
dimples,indicate the doll's probable origin as an Exhibition model. The doll has her original
body and body finish,and superb original custom wig and elaborate folklore
costume,undergarments,shoes,socks and carries a woven basket. The sublime doll was
featured in The Doll as Art by Stuart Holbrook,page 102.
