Description
16" (41 cm.) Bisque socket head with solid dome,blonde sculpted boyish hair with defined
combmarks,painted eyes that are nearly closed as though squinting,the left eye slightly
peeking open,one stroke wavy brows,accented nostrils of rounded nose,closed mouth
modeled as though open with grimacing expression on the shaded lips,double
chin,composition and wooden ball-jointed toddler body with side-hip jointing. Condition:
generally excellent. Marks: 7761 Germany Heubach (sunburst mark). Comments: Gebruder
Heubach,circa 1912,the model is known by collectors as "spinach boy" in a description of the
facial expression a young lad might make when told to eat spinach. Value Points: very rare
model has extraordinary sculpting that appears as though hand-pressed,with very deep
modeling of frown furrows around the eyes and nose,amusing eye detail,wonderfully-shaped
mouth,superb bisque and painting,antique sailor costume with "Europa" sailor hat,middy
jacket,shorts,socks,shoes.
