Description
20" (51 cm.) Bisque socket head depicting a solemn-faced older child, blue glass sleep
eyes, dark eyeliner, dark painted curly lashes, short feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye
corners, closed mouth with very full outlined lips, brunette mohair wig, composition and
wooden ball-jointed body. Condition; generally excellent. Marks: 111. Comments: Simon and
Halbig, possibly for Kammer and Reinhardt's art character series, this being the glass-eyed
version of their 111 art character which was registered in 1910; as with the 112 and 114
models it was likely created in both painted eye and this sleep-eyed version. Value Points: of
exquisite beauty, the model is virtually never found, her sweet pensive expression is most
compelling and having choicest bisque and painting, original body and body finish, and
wearing pale green silk and lace frock with matching bonnet, undergarments, kidskin
shoes, stockings, and a superb matched necklace and bracelet with painted porcelain portraits
of a woman.
