Description
23" (57 cm.) Bisque socket head, painted blue eyes with darker blue outer iris rims, thick black upper eyeliner, one-stroke tapered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with very full pouting lips, blonde mohair wig, composition and wooden ball-jointed body, lovely antique dress, cream kidskin shoes, undergarments. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: K*R 114 57. Comments: Kammer and Reinhardt, the model "Gretchen" from their art character series, circa 1909, the doll was sculpted by Karl Krausser of the K*R firm; the nephew of Franz Reinhardt served as a model for the doll which was made as a boy doll (marketed as "Hans") and girl (marketed as "Gretchen".) Value Points: rare large model of the beloved doll, of which few examples are known to exist, with superlative bisque and painting, fine gleaming complexion, original body and body finish.
