blue glass spiral-threaded eyes in so-called "wrap-around" shape,thick dark eyeliner,painted

with defined space between the accented lips, pierced ears, original blonde lambswool wig over
cork pate,French composition and wooden eight-loose-ball-jointed body with straight wrists
and cupped hands. Condition: generally excellent, tiny chip at left pierced ear hole. Marks: 5/0
(head) Jumeau Medaille d'Or Paris (body). Comments: Emile Jumeau, his earliest period luxury
portrait bebe, circa 1878. Value Points: the compelling presence of the gorgeous early bebe
with rare and dramatic eyes is enhanced by the rarity of her 5/0 size,of which other models
are not known to exist. The bebe wears a superb very frail peach silk
dress, undergarments, stockings, kidskin shoes with silk ribbons, and superb woven bonnet
trimmed with a striped ribbon of brown velvet and bronze silk.
