22" (56 cm.) Bisque socket head with deeply-sculpted facial features,painted shaded blue eyes,black upper eyeliner,one-stroke tapered brows,rounded nose with two accent dots,closed mouth with smiling expression,row of painted teeth between the outlined shaded lips,blonde mohair wig,composition and wooden ball-jointed body,wonderful red flannel wool costume with black felt bonnet trimmed with red silk ribbons,undergarments,black stockings,red kidskin shoes,and carrying a fancy gilt metal purse with faux-ruby stones. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 151 S&H 3. Comments: Simon and Halbig,circa 1910,from their 150 art character series. Value Points: the wonderful large size allows for superb definition of character features,impressed dimples at cheeks and around the mouth enhance the expression,and the overall fine quality of bisque is heightened by luminous patina of complexion; few examples in this rare larger size can be found.
