14" (36 cm.) Polychromed terra cotta shoulderhead of man with darkened complexion, black sculpted hair with windblown details including forelock curl, sculpted ears, incised facial wrinkles, enamel eyes, firm closed mouth, sculpted chin wart, defined throat hollow, tinted beard stubble, tow-wrapped posable armature body, carved wooden lower arms and legs, painted blue stockings and black shoes, wearing brown velvet jacket and pants, silk vest, and carrying woven cap and walking stick. Excellent condition. Neapolitan, mid-1700s, the deeply-sculpted model enhanced by fine artistry of painting.
