Description
18" (46 cm.) Bisque socket head portraying a kindly older lady,having grey sculpted hair
combed smoothly around the forehead and forming into short full ringlet curls that are
captured by mauve barettes at each side; a sculpted ruffled cap covers the head,having an
embossed design overall and peaked by a purple sculpted ribbon bow. The doll has very
deeply-intaglio sculpted pale blue eyes with pronounced black pupils and white
eyedots,black and red eyeliner,brown curvy brows,uniquely-shaped nose with nostril
accents,closed mouth forming a gentle smile,and pronounced plump cheeks and double
chin,Sonneberg composition and wooden fully-jointed body,wearing a lovely purple and black
silk gown,layered undergarments,shoes and socks. Condition: small very fine professional re-
touch at the forehead crown is virtually imperceptible,otherwise excellent. Comments:
Gebruder Heubach,circa 1912,the doll was featured on the cover of Antique Doll
World,Nov/Dec 1996. Value Points: of exceptional rarity,few other models are known to
exist,with exemplary sculpting including bonnet and hair details,sculpted age and wrinkle
lines softened by sculpted laughter lines around the eyes and mouth,wonderful robust
chin,fine quality bisque and painting.
