Marks: B (in large script) A 15 M. Comments: Marseille, circa 1910,from their series of painted intaglio painted-eye characters. The extraordinary size of the extremely rare doll indicates her original production as an Exhibition doll, likely designed as competition for the Kammer and Reinhardt art character series introduced in 1909. Value Points: the extreme rarity of the model is enhanced even more by its Exhibition size, its superb detail of sculpting especially around the eyes and mouth, finest quality of bisque and painting, original body and body finish, and superb lushly-full waist-length extended wig. The doll appeared on the cover of the August 2002 issue of Antique Doll Collector.
