22" (56 cm.) Solid domed bisque socket head,painted short blonde boyish hair with defined forelock curl,very deeply-sculpted intaglio blue eyes with prominent large pupils,white eyedots,red and black upper eyeliner,short stroke brows,rounded nose with accented nostrils,closed mouth with wide tentative smile,accent line between the lips,composition and wooden ball-jointed toddler body with chubby stomach and side-hip jointing,in antique mariner costume with red woolen middy shirt,pleated knickers,red leather boots,and blue woolen sailor cap. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 9145 Heubach (in square) 10 Germany. Comments: Gebruder Heubach,circa 1912. Value Points: the very rare large size allows for superb detail of sculpting; the rare model has most endearing sweet smile with impressed dimples at lip corners and philtrum,and around the eyes,rarer toddler body with original finish,wonderful costume.
