Description
14" (36 cm.) Pale bisque swivel head on bisque shoulderplate, cobalt blue glass enamel eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, accented nostrils, closed mouth with slightly-upturned lip corners and accented center lip line, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, kid poupee body with gusset jointing, antique costume. Condition: bisque excellent, body is sturdy albeit darkened. Marks: Simonne (body stamp on torso). Comments: Maison Simonne, circa 1860. Value Points: the luxury Parisian doll shop presented only the finest poupees, this example having very fine bisque and most unusual endearing expression highlighted by a slight smile.
