14" (36 cm.) The flat-topped desk with shapely-curved front and sides,cabriole-shaped
legs,three-opening front drawers,shaped apron drops,tooled leather writing surface with gold
accents,superb bronze griffin-shaped mounts,bronze draw pulls,gold-leaf edging,and ebony-
black finish with hand-painted Chinoiserie decorations depicting village scenes,bridges,ships in
the distant sea. The model was created by a Parisian atelier that specialized in 18th-century
style furnishings,as an example of their artistry and cabinetry skills. Late 19th century. Superb
original condition.
