16" (42 cm.) Bisque socket head,painted small outlined-grey upper-glancing eyes with red and black upper eyeliner,feathered angled brows,rounded nose tip,closed mouth modeled as though open,in laughing expression,with shaded and outlined lips and row of painted teeth,blonde mohair waist-length wig,composition and wooden ball-jointed body,wearing original lace-edged pinafore over muslin dress,undergarments,ribbed stockings,shoes. Condition: generally excellent,retouch to hands. Marks: C.P. 213 42. Comments: Catterfelder Puppenfabrik,circa 1910,from their 200 series of art character dolls. Value Points: the rarity of the character with previously-undocumented model number,is enhanced by its extraordinary charm and presence,having deeply impressed dimples at both lip corners and cheeks,well- defined eye sockets,superb bisque and painting,and fine antique costume that includes silk- ribbon banded woven bonnet,pocket watch on chain,and a blue silk parasol with carved bone handle.
