13" (33 cm.) head circumference. 15" overall length. Solid domed bisque head with flanged
neck,golden-brown complexion,black painted hair and tinted brows,small brown glass sleep
eyes,painted lashes,closed mouth with extended center line between the lips,classic Bye-lo
muslin body,brown celluloid hands. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: c. 1923 by Grace S.
Putnam Made in Germany. Comments: "Bye-lo Baby",designed by Grace Storey Putnam and
produced in Germany under commission by George Borgfeldt,circa 1923. Value Points: very rare
brown-complexioned baby with flawless golden-brown hues that gain depth from luminous
patina,unusual detail of hair sculpting,with lovely antique costume including
gown,undergarments and superb bonnet,and having original Bye-lo celluloid pin.
