15" (38 cm.) All carved wooden doll, solid domed socket head, deeply-intaglio painted blue eyes in half-moon shape, white eye dots, black upper eyeliner, short-stroke brows, pug nose, closed mouth is modeled as though open, defined tongue, tacked-on original brunette mohair wig over original painted hair, all-wooden fully-jointed toddler body, holes in feet for posing, antique costume. Condition: very good, some facial crazing and light touch-up on lips, finish on arms worn. Marks: Schoenhut Doll Pat. Jan. 17, '11 USA & Foreign Countries. Comments: Schoenhut, the doll was marketed as Schnickelfritz, 1911-1912, the doll was generally presented as having painted hair, but without added wig (which is original here over the painted hair). Value Points: rare Schoenhut model with excellent detail of modeling.
