17" (43 cm.) Bisque socket head,small blue glass sleep eyes,dark eyeliner,painted curly
lashes,short feathered brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth with accent line between the full
lips,waist-length blonde mohair wig,composition and wooden ball-jointed body,pretty
antique dress,undergarments,stockings and shoes. Condition: generally excellent. Marks:
Simon & Halbig S&H IV. Comments: Simon and Halbig,circa 1912,the model closely resembles
the equally rare 1448 art-character by S&H (see the preceding lot),however the IV was made
in this 17" size only. Value Points: very rare and beloved doll,this example a model of
perfection,with fine luminous bisque enhancing the portrait like expression,original body in
superb condition,wonderful costume accented by an exquisite woven bonnet,and rare jewelry
including watch and hand-shaped figural fob.
