Description
14" (36 cm.) Bisque socket head depicting a young child with sculpted blonde curly hair
peeking from beneath a sculpted bonnet, small blue glass sleep eyes, painted curly
lashes, short feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, open mouth, outlined lips with
enhancing decorative glaze, two porcelain upper teeth, composition bent-limb baby
body, antique gown with lavish lace and tucks, undergarments. Condition: generally
excellent,Marks: JDK Made in Germany 10. Comments: Kestner, circa 1914,who transformed
their classic facial model into an extraordinary model with sculpted hair and bonnet; this is
the only model that Kestner made with actual sculpting details on the hair (rather than just
painted) and sculpted bonnet. Value Points: extremely rare doll,of which few examples are
known to exist, and this larger than others that are known; the bisque and painting are
superb, and the sculpting of the bonnet includes "ruffled" border, painted pink ribbon
band, and incised "embroidery" in an intricate star pattern.
