12" (30 cm.) Paper mache socket head with rich ebony-black complexion,brown glass sleep
googly eyes in upper glancing expression,pointy-tip nose with accented nostrils,closed
mouth,black fleecy hair,French black composition and wooden fully-jointed body. Condition:
generally excellent. Marks: SGFB Paris 3. Comments: SFBJ,their rare 307 googly model,circa
1920. The exact doll is shown in the book The History and Art of Googlies,page 115. Value
Points: absolutely charming doll,and very rare-to-find,with uniquely (and originally) upper-
gazing googly eyes,flawless complexion,nice antique costume including
dress,undergarments,kidskin shoes,and a wonderful fur collar and muff along with black wide-
brimmed lacy bonnet.
