Description
4" (10 cm.) l. A firm-sided box with slant front has deeply-embossed tooling and designs,and
gilt lettering "Papeterie",hinging open to reveal a well-fitted interior containing various
stationery tools including bone-handled pen,seals,and letter opener,two glass inkwells,ormolu
ink blotter,and various stationeryand envelopes. Along with three miniature cartes de visite with
sepia photographs of three early French poupees that could be purchased from Au Paradis des
Enfants,the prestige Parisian doll shop; the style of the dolls and costumes indicates a date of
about 1865,indicating the photographs were from the early days of photography. The rare
accessories are in excellent condition. French,circa 1865.
