Description
25" (64 cm.) Bisque socket head with light-amber tinted complexion,slender face and
throat,side-angled narrow eye cuts with brown glass sleep eyes,thick dark eyeliner,painted
curly lashes,incised eyeliner,black brush-stroked and feathered brows,accented nostrils,open
mouth with outlined lips,four porcelain teeth,pierced ears,amber-tinted composition and
wooden ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: SH 1129-12 Dep Germany.
Comments: Simon and Halbig,circa 1895,from their Asian series of portrait models,the model
was deposed in 1893. Value Points: extremely rare-to-find in this large size 12,allowing most
felicitous expression of highly-defined features,including eye-corner crinkles,dimpled chin
and mouth,and full cheeks,with fine lustrous patina on the flawless complexion,the doll has
original black mohair wig with long queue and is wearing elaborate silk gown and robe,beaded
coiffe,earrings,and carries a fine early French folding fan. Included is a woven domed trunk
with additional antique gold silk tunic,and a silk brocade box with velvet lining containing
miniature black lacquer toiletry articles.
