9" (23 cm.) Solid domed bisque socket head with elongated oval shape,bald pate with painted and modeled topknot,and painted curls above the ears and at nape,sculpted oversized stuck- out ears,brown glass inset googly eyes,three painted lashes above each eye,high comma- shaped brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth with wide beaming smile,two beaded buck teeth,composition baby body,wearing original knit costume with matching stocking cap. Condition: generally excellent,slight roughness at bottom of neck socket. Marks: 4. Comments: Germany,circa 1915,the highly-characterized figure was certainly inspired by comic strip character of the era; the doll was also made with painted eyes,this glass-eyed version being the rarest. Value Points: very rare googly,whose unique features include hair,glass eyes,three lashes above each eye,stuck-out ears,and buck teeth.
