Description
12 1/2" head circumference. 14"l. Solid domed wooden carved head with flanged neck,blue glass
sleep eyes,painted brown baby hair,painted creamy complexion,painted curly lashes,closed
mouth and slightly-blushed cheeks,on original muslin Bye-lo body with celluloid hands,antique
costume. Condition: generally excellent,some light rubs on paint,original finish is well-
preserved. Comments: the wooden-head Bye-lo presented in 1925 by Harry Schoenhut,an exact
likeness of the Grace Storey Putname bisque Bye-lo; few examples of this doll are known to
exist and variations on complexion tones indicate each was individually painted. Value Points:
very rare American dolls with interesting historical relationships,well-preserved.
