12" (30 cm.) Bisque head with flanged neck depicting a black-spotted white dog with sculpted
"fur" details,floppy ears with black tips,very large brown glass inset eyes with encircling grey
eye shadow,black nose tip with pink painted nostrils and philtrum area,defined whisker
tips,open mouth in beaming smile with sculpted teeth,two upper and two lower teeth that are
spread wide-apart,curly mohair-covered cloth body with jointed arms and legs. Condition:
generally excellent. Marks: Allie Dog Copyright by Georgene Averill Germany 1405.
Comments: the amusing dog doll was created in this black/white version as well as a tawny
color version,designed by the American artist Georgene Averill and commissioned by
Borgfeldt from German doll firms,circa 1925. Value Points: very rare-to-find appealing
cheerful pup,likely made for only one or two seasons,has excellent sculpting and painting.
