16" (41 cm.) All-wooden carved doll, socket head, intaglio-defined sculpting of painted blue eyes with large black pupils and white eye dots, black upper eyeliner, tinted brows, rounded nose, closed mouth modeled in a beaming smile with row of six carved teeth, impressed cheek dimples, brunette mohair wig with side coiled braids, all-wooden spring-jointed body, holes in feet for posing, wearing striped cotton dress, undergarments, original knit teddy, stockings, black Schoenhut shoes. Condition: generally excellent, light rubs on nose and cheeks, some wear on leg paint, wig is antique mohair but not original. Marks: Schoenhut Doll Pat. Jan.17, 1911 USA & Foreign Countries (incised). Comments: Schoenhut, model 16/305, the model first appeared in the 1911 Graziano year, this example immediately thereafter in 1912. Value Points: rare Schoenhut model with charming smile and finely sculpted features.
