Description
3" shoulder width. 8" waist. 11" overall length.
The tightly-woven red cotton fabric is
transfer-printed with abstract design and features
a fitted bodice,full sleeves and gathered skirt.
There is lace trim at the neckline and cuffs,and a
muslin apron with the ink-script poem "My name is
Miss Piper/ I'm not a pen wiper/ But from your
shoes/The buttons you lose/Then just come to
me/And directly you'll see/With what great
delight/I'll sew them on tight". Circa 1865.
