Description
3 " shoulder width. 8" relaxed waist. 11" overall length. Of fine white waffle-weave pique,the gown features a fitted bodice centered by side bretelles that extend over the short sleeves,form a rounded collar at the back,and continue down the sides of the skirt; the gown has a rounded neckline,dart-shaped back bodice,and generous cartridge-pleating of the skirt. There is a delicate scalloped-edge cotton border at the sleeves edges,bretelles and skirt panels,and lace edging at the neckline. Along with a woven straw bonnet known as "a deux bonjours" with upturned front and back wide brim,flannel lining,black lace trim,and black velvet banding. Circa 1860.
