Description
4" shoulder width. 8" waist. 13" overall length.
Of a richly-woven bengaline silk in bronze,black
and red pattern with slightly textured finish,the
ensemble includes a gown with slightly-high set-in
waist,gathering-construction detail at the
shoulders,coat sleeves with dart-shaping at upper
arms and constructed cuffs,full skirt that is
dart-shaped at the front and cartridge-pleated at
the back. Along with a matching cape. The gown and
cape are edged with bronze-green textured silk
ribbon that also forms ties at the waist and cape
collar,and there are tiny black buttons with
button loops at the neckline and cuffs. Circa 1865.
