14" (36 cm.) Sculpted composition character with
domed socket head,ebony-black complexion,painted
dark brown eyes with white eyedots,black painted
brows,closed mouth with very full lips,black
mohair wig,black composition and wooden
ball-jointed body,wearing antique cotton dress
with red embroidery,checkered pinafore
apron,undergarments,red velvet cap with braid
trim,leather ankle boots. Condition: generally
excellent. Comments: Marion Kaulitz,circa 1908,her
character dolls were presented at a special
exhibition in the Tietz Department Store in Munich
in that year as an effort to promote the creation
of the dolls with realistic character expression;
each was made in her own studio and are very rare
to find. Value Points: rare Kaulitz doll
especially rare with rich black complexion,finest
quality of sculpting enhancing her
characterization especially around her eyes and
cheeks.
