Description
17" (43 cm.) Solid domed bisque head with flat-cut
neck socket,very pale complexion with
softly-blushed cheeks and eyelids,blue glass inset
eyes,painted curly lashes,feathered brows,accented
nostrils and eye corners,slightly-parted lips,two
rows of tiny porcelain teeth,pale lambswool
wig,carton torso containing clockwork
mechanism,composition arms and lower
legs,kid-over-metal hinged upper legs,wearing
beautiful antique gown and bonnet. Condition:
generally excellent,mechanism functions well.
Comments: Jules Steiner,his beloved Bebe
Gigoteur,circa 1880,which,when wound,waves its
arms and legs in baby-like fashion,turns its head
side to side and cries"mama". Value Points:
especially beautiful bisque,the doll was
commissioned from Steiner by the prestige Parisian
doll store,Au Nain Bleu,and still wears its
original shoes labeled Au Nain Bleu.
