5.5" (14 cm.) A firm-sided box decorated lavishly with embossed gilt papers has a pull-out rose-paper-lined drawer hidden at the side that originally was a candy box. Surmounting the box is are two pillars with valance top that support a framed mirror that is hinged to tilt back and forth,richly-covered with embossed gilt papers. French,mid-19th century,an exquisite example of candy box designed with a luxury purpose after the candy was gone. Excellent condition,original mirror with some silvering loss
