facial modeling of older child,brown glass sleep
eyes,painted lashes,short brush-stroked
brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed
mouth,,accented lips,brunette mohair
wig,composition and wooden ball-jointed
body,wearing antique burgundy twill boy's suit
with lace collar,belt,argyle stockings,black
woolen tam,kidskin shoes. Condition: generally
excellent. Marks: 213 3 B&D Ltd Germany.
Comments: made in Germany,possibly Bawo and
Dotter,circa 1910,under commission for the New
York doll import firm of Bawo & Dotter who
commissioned a very select series of art-character
dolls that would bear their own signature. Value
Points: extremely rare art-character model,whose
rarity is further enhanced by a face that is both
handsome and expressive,and having finest quality
of bisque and painting
