14" (36 cm.) Each with earthenware sculpted head
with superbly-defined details of hair and facial
features,enamel inset eyes,painted complexions and
facial features,closed mouth with various
expressions,hemp-wrapped bodies with earthenware
lower limbs,sculpted boots,original costumes.
Condition: two with broken fingers,one with
reglued foot,painting and costumes are original on
all albeit with wear and aging. Comments:
Neopolitan,early 19th century,the larger size and
exceptional detail of sculpting indicate
commissioned work for the village scene presented
in a luxury Italian home. Value Points:
outstanding detail of faces,expressions,hair,and
desirable to find in their original state.
