14" (36 cm.) Bisque swivel head on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate,blue glass enamel inset eyes,dark painted lashes,feathered arched brows,accented nostrils,closed mouth with slightly-upturned lips as though smiling,ears pierced into head,brunette human hair over cork pate,French wooden fully-articulated boy with dowel-jointing at shoulders,elbows,wrists,hips,knees and ankles,separately-carved fingers,ball-swivel waist. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: C. Comments: Leon Casimir Bru,circa 1867,his unique poupee body was deposed in that year,inspired by the classic articulated artist's mannequin body. Value Points: rare wooden-bodied poupee with fine original body finish,extra luxury dowel-jointing at wrists and ankles,ball swivel waist,and earliest model of the smiling poupee face.
