Description
16" (41 cm.) Each is muslin with flat-dimensional faces,stitch-jointed arms and legs,sewn-on striped stockings and black shoes,and each has original black shoe-button eyes,hand-painted features,and thick worsted yarn hair,Ann with dark brown yarn,and Andy with rust red. Condition: generally excellent,Ann's hair a tad sparse,costumes typically faded. Marks: Patented Sept. 7,1915. Comments: Volland,the first period painted-feature models of Johnny Gruelle's storybook characters,circa 1918/1920. Value Points: very rare early models with most charming faces,Ann's value enhanced by the presence of her original hidden "heart" which is still intact.
