Description
20" (51 cm.) x 13" box. 3"h. tureen. A wooden box
with decorative paper covers hinges open to reveal
the beautifully-fitted interior comprising a
porcelain dinner service for six,scaled for larger
poupee or small bebe. The service is exquisitely
decorated with scenes of beautifully-colored birds
set amidst garlands of flowers,with borders of
rose and gilt,and includes a lidded footed
tureen,two footed serving bowls,two footed fluted
fruit bowls,two service dishes,two covered smaller
tureens,lidded gravy boat on saucer,open sauce
dish on saucer,two small relish dishes,five dinner
plates,six soup bowls,two glass carafes,six glass
goblets,cutlery and napkins for six,and menu
cards. The content is excellent,still tied with
original ribbons,exterior of box is worn.
French,circa 1885,an exquisite bird and flower
design that is quite rare.
