Description
All-wooden carved polychromed figure of woman with very strong angular features, dark brown deeply-carved hair waved loosely from her face into a softly-gathered double topknot at the back crown, large inset enamel eyes, primly-set lips, elongated throat, one-piece head and torso, dowel-jointing at shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, painted black boots, colorful folklore style costume, and carrying miniature birdcage. Condition: generally excellent except repaint to hands. Genoese, late 1700s, attributed to the workshop of Pasquale Navone.
