21" (53 cm.) Bisque socket head with rich golden
brown complexion,amber brown paperweight glass
eyes,black painted curly lashes,black
brush-stroked feathered brows,accented nostrils
and eye corners,open mouth,row of modeled
teeth,pierced ears,black mohair fleecy wig over
cork pate,French brown composition and wooden
ball-jointed body. Condition: generally excellent.
Marks: E. 9 D. Depose (raised letters). Comments:
Denamur,circa 1889,the Depose markings referred to
his registered body as well as head model. Value
Points: virtually unplayed with,the bebe has
superb complexion,original wig,body,body
finish,and is wearing its luxury original silk
Moorish costume with matching leather-soled silk
boots,gold coins decorating the sash,necklace and
elaborate cap,likely designed to capture the
wealthy exotic clientele that was flocking to the
1889 L'Universelle Exposition in Paris.
