Description
15" (36 cm.) Bisque socket head with very dark brown complexion,brown glass sleep eyes,mohair lashes,painted black brows and lashes,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth with modeled tongue tip and beaded teeth,black mohair wig,brown composition and wooden fully-jointed toddler body with side-hip jointing. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: 36 W.S.K. 150 1/2 DRGM 452711. Comments: Wiesenthal,Schindel,and Kallenberg,the German firm advertised bisque character dolls from 1911 until the end of the 1920s,with international marketing. Value Points: a rare model with original body,both head and body having excellent detail of sculpting,and the doll wearing a khaki safari uniform and cap labeled "Exposition Coloniale 1931"; that Paris exposition was designed to show the diverse cultures of France's colonial possessions.
